Faithful to a late 18th century English design, the beech structure of the Greyhound sofa has spoke-shaved pitch pine arms and is typically on oak or mahogany legs. On an original webbed platform and HOWE brass cup castors, with the option of a horsehair squab cushion or a pocketed down and feather cushion.
HOWE’s frame-maker pays every respect to the use of pegged mortise and tenon, and dovetailed stretcher joints to achieve remarkable strength in such a slender and lightweight frame, which is the essence of 18th century English furniture.
“As well as the evident level of hand built craftsmanship and use of authentic natural materials, the Greyhound is not only incredibly sleek and stylish but surprisingly comfortable for an 18th Century settee” CH
