Wilding with Isabella Tree
Head to the glorious At The Chapel in Bruton, Somerset for an evening with Isabella Tree as she talks about her incredible book Wilding.
Isabella Tree tells the amazing story of a daring wildlife experiment: the rewilding of Knepp Estate in West Sussex where she lives with her husband, the environmentalist Charlie Burrell. After decades of intensive farming, their 3,500 acres are now home to critically endangered nightingales, turtle doves and purple emperor butterflies, as well as burgeoning populations of other species. The success of Knepp, where habitats are created by free-roaming animals, is changing the way people are thinking about nature conservation.
“Anyone who is interested in how we share the planet — what it looks like, what we eat, and what nature can teach us — should read this book.” Helen Davies, The Times
£10 per ticket or to carry on the conversation after the event dine At The Chapel for supper £15.
Clubroom bar open from 6.30 pm. Event starts promptly at 7pm.
The Art of Making Gardens with Luciano Giubbilei
When Luciano Giubbilei designs a garden he aims to create a place which is timeless: a multi layered environment, where culture and nature combine to connect people to the beauty of the natural world. His gardens are famed for their understated elegance and serenity, defined by light and influenced by his classical Italian design heritage of proportion and balance. His gardens evolve through an exploration of spacing, rhythm and the repetition of single elements and are produced through sustained collaboration with artists, architects, plants and crafts people.
Born in Siena, now based in London, Luciano has created gardens in England, famously working at Great Dixter, in Morocco, across Europe and America.
“One evening he sat alone at the end of the garden and observed every detail as it became dark… Only an artist thinks like that.” Benedetta Origo, Vogue
